Today a pitch and putt course occupies the historical site in the heart of the city where once the Royal Company of Archers drilled and Stuart Kings golfed.
The etching's title 'Ichabod' translates as the ''glory departed'' and shows the menacing march of houses towards open land already being put to a myriad of uses besides golf. Here, carpet beaters ply their trade.
